Jaipur: The usual display of strength on streets on the day of filing nomination for the students’ union polls of Rajasthan University has come down in the city. Thanks to the strict control by the police and the restricted entry of students into RU and its constituent colleges giving no space to the student bodies to cause any law and order problem. Both NSUI and ABVP candidates did come with their supporters but were not allowed assembling in large groups. The usual cavalcade, posters, banners, fiery speeches and traffic jams were also limited. The gatherings were restricted to outside the university and other colleges. Police had to warn unruly students at some places to control the situation. During the nomination process, police carried out a mock drill at the university which prevented lumpen elements from creating any chaos. Chief election officer Vijay Veer Singh said that a total of 18 candidates filed nominations for the post of president and 9 for the post of vice-president.
